Comments about ECCO Mens Sella:
I bought these boots as a "mid level" hiking boot; something to use for day hikes in mild weather and for kicking around city streets in the winter. I was going to get the Biom Hike 1.3, but they're a bit too rugged looking for what I wanted. The Sella has a nice smooth leather upper that looks handsome.
They are comfortable right out of the box. I walked for a total of about 10 miles on the first day, just around town and in a park. I also wore them indoors at a restaurant. They remained comfortable the whole time. Even indoors, my feet didn't sweat. These have a Hydromax water resistant liner, similar to Gore-tex. Such liners tend to keep moisture in as well as out, and can make boots uncomfortably warm. I didn't find this to be the case.
The only detraction I could think of is that when I wore a pair of thick black nylon socks, the light colored padding inside the boot caused them to pill at the heel. I didn't experience much heel slip at all. It would be that this is just an initial bit of material that wears off upon initial use.
