I visited two retail stores that carry this item as I think the beige shoe would be a versatile and comfortable shoe. Both stores told me that the black smudges were intentional, however they just make the shoes look dirty.

I was so happy when I saw and first tried on this shoe. It was really cute, padded, and seemed comfortable. It was about 1/2 size too big, but the next size down was just a little bit too small. The shoe felt perfect once I added a gel insert. However, I wore these flats once running errands and they rubbed my heel. I brought them to Italy, which was reason for my purchase, put band aids on my heels, and wore them in Rome one day. By the time I got home, I was in so much pain as my heels were torn apart from these shoes. I am so sad, i had such high hopes for these shoes. At least I am able to return them. Otherwise I've had good luck with Ecco shoes.

I really love these shoes. I have the Mary Janes too. I found this style a wee bit more comfortable, size wise. I do a lot of walking and need well supported, comfortable shoes, and hopefully, this is it. I have tried many brands, and many styles, but was never satisfied. I only wish they were a less expensive, or else I would have bought the other colors.
I would recommend this to everyone. They are awesome, and my feet feel less tired after hours of walking.
