When I tried these on, I immediately noticed a difference compared to other hiking boots I've owned and tried. ECCO is on a new design track lately, making very ergonomically contoured footwear (their BIOM line is the epitome of this). They've broken a new barrier with the BIOM hiking boots. For comparison, I went ahead and tried on the Track II high boots and immediately I felt like I was going back 5 decades in footwear technology. I couldn't stand them. BIOM is so much better, a whole new level in comfortable active footwear.
The only negative about these boots I can think of is that they're kind of puffy, giving a thick appearance like that of a snow boot. For hiking I tend to prefer something with a little thinner profile. The Hike 1.3 and 1.4 both appear just a little more lean visually, while still being comfortable.

Searching for the perfect waterproof hiker I tried everything and then discovered this Ecco boot. Another amazing product from Ecco. Comfortable hiker through plowed fields, forests and swampland. Lightweight which makes walking with camera gear a little easier. This dog will hunt.

I have used every hiking boot imaginable from Lowa to North Face and everything in between. Every boot including other Eccos I have used always lack one thing and that is forefoot cushioning.This Biom 1.2 has finally ended my search for the perfect boot. They have finally done what I have always asked and that is why do Mfg. of hiking boots think you don't need cushioning because you are hiking and not walking on pavement. Again I reiterize and that is they are the best boot I have ever hiked in.
